I understand that many of you are keeping your eye out for my quick notes of Milan Fashion Week. Well here there are! Again, I stress that these are my predictions.
Fur!!! Gucci has given us hot options with the faux and the real. Yup Yup! It’s definitely emerging as a trend across the fashion capitals so far. With foxes, goat skin and others have been added to the mix. Fur trimmings (Alberta Ferretti, No.21, Blumarine), the fur gold zip bomber jacket seen at Francesco Scognamiglio or the fur that covers the chests and arms (Ports 1961, Blumarine, Francesco Scognamiglio, Costume National). Dolce & Gabbana featured them on pockets. Milan has given a new meaning to the controversial anti-animal-friendly material with hoodies, minx and fur shrugs (Roberto Cavalli). I’m craving to be ghetto fabolous with that jacket from Sportmax. Not sure if the high street with the idea of clashing coloured dyed furs (Marni).
We’ve seen the suit revamped across London and New York so far. It could be said that Milan are feeling the masculine/feminine inspiration this autumn. Milan designers have gone further to make menswear essential to become a womanwear must-have (Missoni). Emporio Armani featured the styled the suit with stilettos, wide ankle leg trousers and double-breasted blazers. Sportmax added some colour to the quarter-length sleeves of her blazers; styling the blazer with a long skirt with boots. Other designers such as Versus Versace, Gucci, Francesco Scognamiglio and Maxmara have followed also; with Maxmara making it playful with cute polka dots, sheer and mesh. Emilio Pucci and Emporio Armani used velvet for the blazers and trousers. This season has caused designers to either develop masculine patterns on other material seen at Aquilano.Rimondi while Bally has given the suit a relaxed approach with those cool casual pumps.
Reptile prints! Gucci had snakeskinned footwear. Reptile prints were also strong at Sportmax teaming crocodile with snake, and a flash turquoise reptile smart jacket was seen at Emporio Armani. Your thoughts of Roberto Cavalli’s jacket?
Do I see flashes of metallic?! Just Cavalli, Tod’s, Iceberg, Prada, Moschino, Antonio Marras, Marni
Some designers are going back to nature; with references to the North (Dolce & Gabbana, Alberta Ferretti, Antonio Marras, Emilio Pucci). It’s like an enchanted fairytail wtth Nordic roots
Pleats Ports 1961, Iceberg on tops pleats pleated trousers (Emporio Armani), long skirts (Blumarine), Milan have made technique that just on a skirt. It’s either placed with another colour or with other material.
Long capes and ponchos (Tod’s, Dolce & Gabbana, Emilio Pucci and Roberto Cavalli).
Dolce & Gabbana
I see flashes of fringes people! Fringes.
There’s a feeling of London fashion with a pret-a-porter edge as seen in likes of Versus Versace, Gucci, Aquilano.Rimondi and Bally. Just to name a few.
