We think that the sun never comes down in LA. WRONG, we’ve all been fooled at it was pouring down with rain (# rain rain, go away come back on another day #) yesterday night (awww shucks). Kelly Osbourne came prepared with her umbrella in order to protect her white Badgley Mischika gown. Guess she knows that no stain, water mustn’t on that dress, NOT ONE DROP.
The social media has been trending the #unitedcoloursoflupita (#unitedcolorsoflupita). New-fashion-icon-on-the-red-carpet Lupita Nyong’o has got the fashion world intrigued and interested in her amazing eye of rainbow colours. At the BAFTAs, she wore Dior’s emerald green. This time, it’s Prada’s dreamy pastel blue! With a headband to match. Her #unitedcolours shows her sense to be playful, happy, wonderful and different with her personal style. Have I’ve forgotten to stay that she contributed to the design of this custom number?
Predictions from movie experts were correct about the African Queen winning Best Supporting Actress for her role in “12 Years A Slave”. Her inspirational speech and presence alone has made every black girl to see themselves as Queens and not ‘side chicks’. ‘No matter where you’re from, your dreams are still valid’,
The movie, which tells the epic memoirs of a free-man-turned-slave (people always forget that he was free) also took Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay! Beating the likes of “American Hustle”, “Captain Phillips”, “Dallas Buyers Club”, “Wolf of Wall Street” and “Gravity”.
These films may have missed out of the one-of-the-epic-wins of the night, but at least they won in other categories. Whilst “American Hustle” and “Wolf of Wall Street” experienced defeat, “Gravity” won six Oscars (Best Cinemaography, Directing, Film Editing, Original Score, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing and Visual Effects). “Dallas Buyers Club” took home three; with Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto winning Best Actor in both Leading and Supporting Roles. And what can we say about these fellas on their fashion sense? I grade it to be dapper than ever with the white suit jackets worn by McConaughey, who attended with his belle Camilla Alves. Must I say that her pink dress is fit for and Queen such as her? Leto was also in with the white-suit-jacket trend; adding a red bow tie to stand out from the normal tuxedo that every male celebrity wears at the Oscars. Hmmmm no wonder why designers prefer to work with womenswear rather than menswear…
Next on the couples night out were the Smiths. Jada-Pinkett opted for another-one of those dreamy flow gowns in a darker shade of pink. Them attending together shows everyone (including those rumour-makers-with-no-lives) that they’re still bringing it in their marriage. ‘Repping it’ couple style and fabulosity are Channing & Jenna Tatum who wore Reem Acra designs. Ooooh, that dress with her dark hair…loving the feathers!
Angelina Jolie opted for a number by Elie Saab. Even though fashion critics describe it as safe, at least she’s not wearing black.
Meanwhile, new wifey Chrissy Teigen get us excited for Spring in Monique Lhuiller. Lush<3
Pharrell Williams continues to buzz headlines by wearing shorts. Remember how he didn’t wear any socks at the BRITS? Oh well, fashion has been always about being a trend-setter rather than trend-follower. Check out his wifey, Helen Lasichanh, she’s taking a risk with her female white jacket tuxedo, adding a feminine touch with her black pussy-bow and platform heels.
Despite jewel tonnes, pastels, navys and creams sparkled on the red carpet this year, mishaps occurred (as usual) at this year Oscars. With many shocked at the outfit by Liza Minnelli. Madam, I know you can style better than this. Guess this moment is not going down in fashion-red-carpet-history…
Also following these occasional mishaps was Elsa Pataky. What alternative would you recommend?Afterall, it’s harder when pregnant. Therefore it’s important to wear something that will be flattering. Who remembers Kerry Washnigton’s dress at the Golden Globes? Could she have worn that? Or what about now, with her Jason Wu dress?! The new Mrs looks banging in his piece. OOOOOOH I don’t know, I’m only giving my unprofessional-unlicensed-expertise. Otherwise that Valentino black dress worn by Olivia Wilde is a good option.
Sad that awards season is almost coming to end. Despite London being full of rain, the only we can look forward to is the arrival of Spring. Nevertheless as Lupita Nyang’o shows, it’s better to be full of colour all year round.
Apologies for my lack of post guys, I’ll definitely been on track soon. I appreciate your patience. I’ll continue to keep it interesting for you cats out there.
