EXCLUSIVE: The Boxettes – The Acapella Quintet

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww man! These girls are WHOA…acapella has resurrected from the grave. Even instrumenting with their lips alone sounds sweet to the ears.

The ‘Boxette Quintet’ have a street vibe. They’re not really your average girl group but their acapella-beatbox abilities could and should be their unique selling point to the big game i.e. pop mainstream.

The quintet consists of Belle “Bellatrix” Ehresmann , whom many know from the Beatbox Championships and vocalists Alyusha, Kate Brown, Neo Joshua and Yvette Riby-Williams.

Their motivation of becoming the popular Boxettes? Well, more of a passion for music rather than commercialization. Reminiscing five years back to their first meet-up at a music college, the ladies have become more than sisters and have never looked back. They’ve performed at Ministry of Sound, Royal Festival Hall, Brixton Academy as well as festivals such as Glastonbury, Bestival. Yes people, they’ve toured the world; from USA to Europe.

Crossing boundaries and uniting Pop, Urban and Alternative, these ladies are bringing the old to a new generation.

Check out this video they did with  The Voice UK 2012’s contestant Tyler James!

In addition to their cover of the popular Rudimental track, I also have other favourites:
