The exquisite British Fashion Awards returns; with trailblazers Cara Delevingne and Victoria Beckham leading the way with the most nominations this year.
Cara Delevingne is nominated for Model of the Year, despite winning the category last year. She’ll be fighting for the gong against the likes of Edie Campbell & Sam Rollinson. Victoria Beckham has had a successful year, after winning the Woman of the Decade category at Glamour’s Women of the Year Awards.
Her portfolio of victories and wins just keep on increasing, as she’s been nominated for two categories – Red Carpet and Brand of the Year, which to me is no surprise. I mean, her designs are so much loved across the pond and worn by celebrities such as Eva Longoria and Beyonce. Of a truth, she has developed a new identity of a fashion icon rather than just ‘Posh Spice’. Posh? yes, but not that of pop — posh-of-fashion.
Shortlisted for the International Designer of the Year are Marc Jacobs, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons. Other tough categories include Womenswear Designer of the Year with Christopher Kane, Phoebe Philo and Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen in the nomination list.
Now we all know that British fashion as always been the hub for new talent. Therefore, Agi & Sam, Thomas Sait and Sophia Webster are nominated for Emerging Talent Award Menswear, Womenswear and Accessories respectively. With queen of prints Mary Katrantzou being placed on the final New Establishment Award list.
Externally, from the final shortlist (made by the British Council) are the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator, newly configured Best Creative Campaign Award and publicly voted British Style Award.
