The New Voice UK Judge – Potential and Likely Candidates

With Jessie J’s departure shocking us all. The race is on for big music celebrities to get that red seat.

The predictions, booking and bets are storming in with both newspapers and celebrity blogs alike reporting in on their likely candidates. Metro reports rumours that Cheryl Cole will be the new female judge in accordance to the bookies. However, Music Week deepens the topic in highlighting the stars with the most potential with Emeli Sande, Rita Ora, Mel B, Florence Welch, Ellie Goulding and Paloma Faith making the shorlist. Entertainmentwise has opened the debate to their viewers and have placed a poll on their site Selena Gomez, Khloe Kardashian & Miley Cyrus among the likes of Shakira, who has experience of being judge on The Voice.

Personally, we have to arrange the candidates into categories:

The singers who are in the same league as Jessie J globally are Rita Ora, Emeli Sande, Florence Welch & Ellie Goulding. They have seen success in the US just like Jessie and they are the hot singers that everyone’s listening to right now. I know I’ve stated this previously in another post but I think Adele should be placed here, although Music Week have highlighted that the possibly of the Grammy winner being on the show is too ‘unrealistic’.

Cheryl Cole & Mel B I’ll place in terms of experience. Both ladies have been in a pop group (with the Mel B being in the biggest pop girl band ever) and have gone to produce their own solo material.

Selena Gomez, Khloe Kardashian & Miley Cyrus I would placed as the most likable. Similarly with Demi Lavato on the US X Factor they represent the youth and either have some idea/little/no experience about the music industry.

It’s easy to assume that the new judge will be a lady but Tellymix.co.uk  has other ideas. They report that JLS Oritse Williams is close to signing a deal! Now this news has taken the debate into a whole unexpected turn.

Anyone thought about Leona Lewis? Well, Daily Mail has placed her alongside Jamelia, Annie Lennox and Robbie Williams in the bookies.

The new judge debate is still in the air. So for now, these are a few of the candidates shortlisted to take Jessie J’s place.
